I am currently working on a project entitled “Aidinmaa” (“Motherland”) which explores my Anglo-Finnish identity using childhood memories, Finnish landscape, history and culture. The project incorporates drawing, painting and writing. During this residency I will research Finnish mythology, art and culture to generate new material. I will be drawing in the life room and from imagination, as well as painting. I hope to work with students, tutors and curatorial staff to gain critical and constructive feedback and move the project forward with a view to creating a body of work for possible exhibition in the uk and/or Finland.
